Please join the Houston Chapter of the International Association for Energy Economics (IAEE) on Thursday, September 13, for our first meeting of the 2007-2008 season.
TOPIC: September's meeting features a luncheon presentation by Andrew Slaughter of Shell E&P North America.  Andrew will deliver a talk on Hard Truths About Global Energy, the 2007 National Petroleum Council Study. 

LOCATION: Doors open at 11:30 a.m. for networking.  Lunch is served at 12:00 noon in the Brazos Room of the Houston Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. The talk will be followed by a brief Q&A session.

About Andrew Slaughter

Andrew Slaughter currently holds the positions of Senior North American Energy Advisor for Shell’s Global Business Environment team and Senior Economics Adviser to Shell’s North American E&P business. In these positions he is responsible for strategic counseling and analysis relative to the North American crude oil and natural gas markets, covering short and long-term supply, demand, price and other regional market issues in support of investment planning and business strategy. He works closely with other Shell businesses in North America to develop a common view of regional energy markets.

Andrew Slaughter is the current Chairman of the Economics and Statistics Committee of the American Petroleum Institute (API); was an active participant in the National Petroleum Council’s 2003 Study “Balancing Natural Gas Policy”, leading a detailed market modeling and analysis team; he served on the 2006 National Petroleum Council study on the outlook for global oil and gas supply, in which he led the LNG and GTL workstream; and is a regular contributor to industry forums.

Prior to joining Shell, he worked in energy industry consulting with DRI/McGraw-Hill (now known as Global Insight), where he was in charge of oil industry forecasting and consulting, and also international energy consulting, based in Paris, France. Previously he was with management consultants Arthur D. Little, also based in Paris, where he covered a wide range of downstream oil and natural gas market, organizational and strategic issues for energy company and government clients in Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

Andrew Slaughter began his career with Chevron Oil, in a planning and economic analysis role for Chevron’s downstream oil business.
